Punjabi Villans raise £20k for Punjab flood relief

Over the last few years, Punjabi Villans have transformed their passion for the "Claret and Blue" into a powerful engine for humanitarian aid, specifically through our partnership with the Midland Langar Seva Society (MLSS).

A Legacy of Giving: From Birmingham to Punjab

The ethos of the Punjabi Villans is rooted in the Sikh principle of Vand Chakko - the act of sharing what you have with those in need. While MLSS works tirelessly on the front lines to provide hot meals and support to the homeless across the UK, the Punjabi Villans have become one of their most vocal and effective allies in mobilising the football community.

A Remarkable Fundraising Effort

The fundraiser, hosted on JustGiving, received an overwhelming response from supporters, friends, and the wider Aston Villa community like Villa Bellas, Bedford Lions, and 1897 Group. Punjabi Villans were also supported by Married to the Villa, We Are Villans, Home of the Villa and The Holy Trinity Show. Thanks to this generosity, over £20,000 was raised, making a significant contribution to the MLSS Punjab Flood Appeal.

Every donation, whether large or small, represented compassion and solidarity with people facing immense hardship. The success of the campaign highlighted the strength of collective action and the willingness of the diaspora to support communities back home in times of crisis.

More Than Just a Fundraiser

This initiative was about more than money. It was about connection, responsibility, and empathy. It showed how cultural identity, sport, and charity can intersect to create meaningful change. For many involved, it was also a reminder of the importance of remembering one’s roots and standing with those most affected during difficult times.

Looking Ahead

The Punjabi Villans and MLSS fundraiser stands as a powerful example of community-led action. While the floods caused immense damage, efforts like this bring hope, relief, and reassurance that people are not facing hardship alone.

As recovery continues in Punjab, the support raised through this campaign will help families take steps towards rebuilding and regaining stability. It is a testament to what can be achieved when communities unite with compassion and purpose.
